Exam Details:

When: Thursday, November 14th

  • Master Exam – 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Where: Austin Southpark Hotel (4140 Governors Row, Austin, Texas 78744)

With the beekeeping law changes of September 2023, all previous Apiary Registrations are no longer valid. For participation in the program, you will need a valid Beekeeper Registration on file with the Texas Apiary Inspection Service. Yearly registration is valid from September 1st through August 31st of each year so if you have not registered prior to September 1, 2024, then you are not registered. There is a $35 annual fee for Beekeeper Registration in Texas.

There are two ways to apply for Beekeeper Registration. But unfortunately, at this time we can only accept mailed in applications. Please mail a check or money order for the $35 fee along with the Beekeeper Registration Application (found here: https://txbeeinspection.tamu.edu/forms-fees/) to the Texas Apiary Inspection Service. The mailing address is on the form.

Please contact Hannah Blackburn if you have any questions about this change (hannah.blackburn@ag.tamu.edu).

For those eligible to take the APPRENTICE exam:

In order to participate in the Apprentice level exam you will need to have kept bees for at least one year and have an active Beekeeper Registration on-file with the Texas Apiary Inspection Service (found here: https://txbeeinspection.tamu.edu/forms-fees/). Please be prepared to conduct the in-hive portion of the exam. More details will be sent to you once your exam registration is complete.

For those eligible to take the ADVANCED exam:

You will need to have held the Apprentice Beekeeper rank for at least one year and have kept bees for at least two years. You must also have an active Beekeeper Registration on-file with the Texas Apiary Inspection Service (found here: https://txbeeinspection.tamu.edu/forms-fees/). Please bring your completed Documentation Binder to the exam with you. If you have questions about uncompleted Public Service Documents, please contact us as soon as possible.
